The medieval city of Alghero is situated on the northwest coast of Sardinia and is home to one of the most attractive coastal resorts on the Italian island of Sardinia. Its busy town centres are filled with delightful restaurants, tempting visitors with fresh fish, paella or the local speciality, lobster. Pick up a souvenir or two whilst exploring the towns atmospheric squares and quirky cobbles streets which have a fascinating Catalan heritage. Alghero is also a paradise for nature lovers and a scuba diving hotspot, known for its underwater caves. If you prefer to stay on dry land, drive up to the headland of Capo Caccia and descend the dramatic cliff steps to Neptune's Grotto.
