Cork Airport Unveils New Staff Photographic Exhibition

Cork Airport today unveiled a new specially commissioned exhibition entitled ‘Our Passengers Mean the World’ by Cork based photographer Karol Kachmarsky.

The exhibition, located in the baggage hall, gives passengers an insight into the various frontline and behind the scenes roles played by staff from across the entire airport community employed in over 20 companies.

Niall MacCarthy, Managing Director said: ‘’Our passengers mean the world to us and it’s our pleasure to give them an award winning experience every time they fly in or out of Cork Airport.  Everyone who flies from Cork Airport knows that we pride ourselves on the smoothness and friendliness of our passenger experience. This is all down to the hard-working staff based at Cork Airport who work for a variety of companies round the clock 365 days of the year, through good weather and bad, to make their journey friendly and stress-free and without them, this would not be possible.’’

Cork Airport won the top award for European Airports in its class for the second time this year having also won in 2017.  The Award from Airports Council International (ACI) recognises excellence and achievement across a variety of airport disciplines.

Polish born photographer Karol Kachmarsky said: ‘Working on the exhibition ‘Our Passengers Mean the World’ was definitely one of the most interesting projects I have worked on. Not only I had the opportunity to meet people in almost every department of the airport but I got to document things I would never have had a chance to see otherwise. A lot of times when we think of the airport, we visualise the obvious like aircraft landing and taking off, but there is so much more to make this complicated operation run smoothly.’’
