Tarragona, only 3kms from Reus airport, is the likelier destination for visitors to base themselves for a visit to the Costa Daurado and the surrounding region. The Port Adventura Park & Resort, Spain’s busiest resort and theme park, is in Salou, only 10km from the airport.

  1. El Varadero is an informal restaurant in Tarragona that is popular with locals who come for the simple seafood dishes that might include tigres (stuffed, breaded and fried mussels) and cigalas a la plancha (grilled crayfish).  Address: Carrer de Trafalgar 13, Tarragona. 
  2. The Arcs Restaurant is inside a medieval cavern filled with contemporary art and offers some wonderful takes on Mediterranean classics with seafood prominent. Address: Carrer Misser Sitges 13, Tarragona.

Gaudí Centre Museum

The famous Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi was born in Reus in 1852. This museum in Tarragona offers a fun guide to the designs of an architectural one-off.

Museu Nacional Arqueològic de Tarragona Cultural

The museum highlights the cultural and material wealth of Roman Tarraco. Exhibits include part of the Roman city walls, frescoes, sculpture and pottery. A highlight is the large, almost complete Mosaic de Peixos de la Pineda.
