Christmas Programme 2020
In 2019 over 1,000 performers from 28 school and adult choirs, from gospel to traditional and orchestral, took to the stage in the Arrivals Hall throughout December, adding to the festive feel for those travelling through the airport.
We are currently putting together our Christmas programme for 2020 and would love to hear from interested performers. Please note availability of performance slots are limited.
Christmas Homecoming Concert In Aid Of Marymount University And Hospital
Over €11,000 was raised for the 2019 Cork Airport charity of the year, Marymount University and Hospital. Performers on the night included The Lee Singers, Pa O’Donoghue, Soprano Gemma Magner, The Hifilutin Flute Quartet, Glissando Harps and Draíocht String Quartet. The event was a huge success with over 350 attendees on the night.
Launch of ‘Taste of West Cork’ Festival in Terminal
Cork Airport working closely with The Taste of West Cork Food Festival launched an exhibition entitled ‘A Taster of West Cork Creates’, which is part of the annual A Taste of West Cork Food Festival. The exhibition showcased the work of the many talented visual artists from across the West Cork region to thousands of passengers, meeters and greeters at Cork Airport ahead of the festival.
Plane Spotters Events At Cork Airport
Cork Airport
was delighted to welcome a group to an Enthusiasts Evening in Autumn 2019 that included a tour of the Airport Control Tower, new state of the art Airport Control Centre and presentations on Drone Use and Route Development. Cork Airport also welcomed a group in 2017 to an Enthusiasts Evening which included a tour of the state of the art Fire Training Ground and Fire Station along with a presentation on route development.
Ballygarvan Litter Pickers
Cork Airport was delighted to sponsor litter pick up tools, gloves and plastics bags to assist our neighbours in Lios Cross, Ballygarvan.
Each weekend where possible, the residents give up their time to go out and keep the area around the perimeter of the Airport litter free.
More Examples Of Community Engagement Initiatives We've Worked On
In addition to the events above Cork Airport was also delighted to be involved in:
- A specially commissioned exhibition entitled ‘Our Passengers Mean the World’ by Cork based photographer Karol Kachmarsky. The exhibition, located in the baggage hall, gives passengers an insight into the various frontline and behind the scenes roles played by staff from across the entire airport community employed in over 20 companies.
- Terminal exhibitions throughout the year with local community organisations, camera clubs, artists and photographers showcasing their work at Cork Airport.
- A pop up Cork Craft & Design exhibition and shop which proudly showcased a range of gifts and homeware made by Cork Based Makers and is run by the Makers themselves.
- Collaborated with Cork Institute of Technology on a live case Marketing project with final year in 2018 and 2019 Marketing students who presented their proposals to the Communications team at Cork Airport.
- A Cork Airport Runway Run in aid of the Cork Airport Charity of the Year with over 2,000 participants..
